TOO MANY LAWYERS

WELLINGTON, this day.
At a meeting of the Victoria University College Council Sir R. Stout moved the appointment of a lecturer on law at a salary of £100, pointing out that Otago University College has one lecturer on jurisprudence and another on general law, that Auckland and Christchurch have each a lecturer on law. The motion was supported by Bishop Wallis, but defeated, only the mover and seconder voting for it. Apparently the Council thinks there are too many lawyers in Wellington already
