In a Parliamentary by-election, Mr Dewar (Liberal) succeeded Mr R. Cox (Conservative), deceased, for Edinburgh South by a majority of 831. Captain Spiiiks, of the Talune, has been overwhelmed with complimentary telegrams from all parts. Mr John Norton, editor or Sydney "Truth," has been elected a member of the N.S. Wales Legislative Assembly for Noi-thumberland, in succession to"Mr Stevenson, deceased.
