BRITAIN AND GERMANY.
COMMERCIAL AGREEMENT RENEWED.
LONDON, June 19
The Beichstag agreed to extension ©f the oommercial Vivendi with. Britain for another year.
A Bill authorising- a. provisional commercial agreement with .Great Britain for one year, from July 30, 1898, was passed by the Reichstag on April 28 of that year, the German Government stating that the negotiations for a. new treaty had been! hampered by Great Britain reserving liberty of action for British colonies
It was made clear that the. most-favoured-nation clause would be continned in general, but would not apply to such colonies as gave preferential . treatment to British ■ goods over German. This agreement, according to our cable to-day, has been extended for another year • _/ ._
