PAEROA MATCHES.
PAEEOA, Saturday,
The Cup fixtures of the Ohinemuri Union were continued to-day, w!hen Waitekauri played Paeroa, at Paeroa. The game was not a good exhibition of football, neither team displaying any combination, whilst the back play was, in general, very poor. Paeroa won by 6 points to nil. In the first spell Fielder scored a try, and in the second D. Dean landed a splendid goal from a penalty kick. For Paeroa Jim Coote, at centre-half, played the best back game on the ground, and of the others Hobbs and Fielder were very good, whilst in the forwards Trevartlhen, T, Clarkin, McGuire, and McLeod appeared the-most prominent. On the losing side McKay, Rogers, and Walker, amongst the backs, and Parkinson, Me* Millan and J. Gordon, in the forwards, were the best. Mr PJ. Connolly was referee. As is usually the case here, the game started at about four o'clock and finished in the dark. Tom Clarkin played for Paeroa and strengthened the forward division considerably.
On July Ist O'hmemuri plays Waihi, at Waihi; and on the Bth plays Thames, at Paeroa.
