ST. GEORGE'S ROWING CLUB.
ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT,
On Saturday evening the annual smoke concert took place in the OddfeUows' Hall, Parnell, when there was a large gathering of club members and others Interested in rowing. The commodore, Mr Seymour Thome George, was In the chair, and was supported by Messrs J. L. Scott, C. E. S. Gillies, and Canon McMurray, vice-commodore. During an interval the trophies won during the past year were presented to the winning crews lay the chairman. Several toasts were drunk, the chief of which was 'Kindred Clubs,' proposed by Canon McMurray, who made a very nice speech and gave some sound advice on sport. The toast was responded to by the representatives of all the other clubs who were present. During the evening a concert was gone through, and proved very enjoyable. The following kindly contributed:—Messrs A. L. Edwards, song; R. Talbot, song; A. Wyn-yard-Joss, mandolin solo, and a song for an encore; H. J. M. Thompson, song; Bert. Robinson, song; G. Newsome, recitation; P. Blackraan, comic song; — Hewson; song, W. Edwards (capt. West End Rowing Club), song; N. Kearne, song. Mr H. Gittos played all the accompaniments, and also gave a pianoforte solo. The whole of the arrangements for the concert were in the hands of Mr C. B. Palmer, the popular hon. secretary of the club.
