MAGISTRATE'S COURT. FRIDAY.
(Before Mr H. W. Brabant, S.M.) In judgment summons cases orders were made as follows:—N. llendall v. L. Morrison, claim £1 1/; Kate Morrow v. H. Allen, claim £_ 6/; Wm. Monaghan v. B. F. Dunn, claim £13 15/; Geo. Hart, v. E. T. Parr, claim 17/. DEFENDED. CASE. A. B. Wood v. W. C. Johns.—This was a claim for £9, being the balance due on a contract to paint a restaurant I in Queen-street, undertaken by the j plaintiff and let by the defendant. Mr Brookfield appeared in support of the claim, and Mr Parr for the defendant, who counter-claimed for £4 10/4, made up as follows: Costs incurred by the I defendant not completing his contract j in accordance with the agreement, £3 19/6, and 10/10 wages paid by tlhe defendant to a workman engaged by the plaintiff, under the Workmen's Wages Act; 1893. The case was before the Court yesterday afternoon. This morning Mr Brookfield asked for an adjournment, one of his witnesses beino- engaged at the Supreme Court. The case was accordingly adjourned until Wednesday next.
