WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the WaipS County Council was held at Ohaupo on Tuesday. The Council refused to entertain the application to have the road leading to section 32, Parish of Pukete, cleared, as the riding funds would no); admit of the expenditure.
Government grants of £100 and £23 were received for • repairs to the Cam* bridge bridge and "Wiiatawhata Roail respectively. The Chairman and Cr. Ful% lerton were deputed to inspect Maunga^ haka bridge and report fully upon it aft; next meeting. The Chairman announced the pleasing fact that the credit balancdl of the Council at March 31st amounted tqj over £400. . ".
The Chairman and Cr. Steele were r# quested to in spect White's bridge at Frankton, which was reported to be in an{ unsound condition.
The Piako County Council wrote decline ing to alter the existing county bouu« •daries. i\
, The following tenders were received foij repairing the Cambridge bridge: R< Morse £190 7/6, W, Fawkes £188 4/, T, E,Doyle £167 '&/. Mr Doyle's tender was accepted.
Repairs to the road near the Alexandra" Cemetery and gravelling works on seve* ral portions of the Ngaruawahia* Whatawhata Road were authorised. Furze notices were issued to a number ,o| property owners. In his report the Chairman stated thai he had arranged with Messrs Harper andf Berry to repair the bridge over the Waipaj near Pirongia. Some delay however had? been experienced in getting the timber orf: the ground, and although the work would;,; be proceeded with at once, it would not ba ready for the traction'engine traffic a& soon as he "haci hoped. He recommend^ that a new set of stringers and a headstock should be placed in Campbell: bridge. % ;3 The various contracts for county "woria were all completed satisfactorily, and Ipi marked improvement had been made ifl the road at the Pukete Flat, wher^ 18$ chains of gravelling had been done ai 4 cost of £54.
