The opening1 meeting- of the session of the Mount Albert Literary and Debating- Society was held last evening. The president (Mr T. -C. Schnackenberg') occupied the chair. The annual election of officers for the ensuing year, resulted in the appointment of Mr W. Spragg as president, and Mr A. Tonson Garlick secretary. A strong- committee was also appointed to make arrangements-for .the work of" the session. This being the business meeting of the year, the rules were revised and several alterations suggested, after which the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to t'nv. retiring president.
An order in Council was made on the 12th, prohibiting the exportation of all oysters from the colony.
