A WELLINGTON SUGGESTION.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WELLINGTON, this day,
The morning journal, which recently scouted the proposal to send a volunteer contingent from Auckland 'to slaughter inoffensive people,' now expresses regret that the Premier's offer which would seem to have been inspired by the prescience of serious trouble,' was not accepted. The evening paper suggests that a seqje of pension to wives or dependents of the volunteers sent to Samoa in the event of death in battle should be drawn up and communicated to the men.
