HARBOUR BOARD.
Yesterday afternoon a meeting1 of the Works' and Tariff Committee of the Auckland Harbour Board was held, there being- present Messrs Napier (Chairman), Stichbury, Julian, Niccol, and Heathter. The questions of providing additional berthage accommodation for deep-sea steamers,. and of the necessary dredging required, were discussed," but were postponed for further consideration. A deputation of residents at Sunnyside and Brick Bay, North Shore, waited on the Committee in support of the request for the erection of a wharf at Brick Bay. It was stated that the residents had raised the sum of £600 in aid of the work, which was a very necessary one, and would enable a ferry service to be carried on to and from Brick Bay, instead of compelling the residents in that district to walk to the Victoria Wharf in order to catch, the steamers for Auckland. It was eventually decided by the committee to recommend the Board to carry out the erection of the desired wharf, conditionally on the residents depositing with the Board a total sum of £600. It was stated by the Foreman of Works that the wharf would have to be 1,300 feet long in order to give sixfeet of water at low tide.
