MILITARY SPORTS AT PAEROA.
Arrangements for the holding of a grand Military Carnival and Sports at Paeron on the 24th May, Queen's Birthday, by the No. 2 Battalion, has now been definitely arranged, and the gathering promises to be a most successful one in every respect. The committee who have charge* of the arrangements consist of delegates from the Thames, Te Aroha, Waihi, Karangahake, and Paeroa companies, and several highly interesting military contests, open to all volunteer companies, have been arranged. A splendid programme of events has been drawn up, and will be duly advertised, including two tugs-of-war, fire brigade competition, chopping match, Sheffield handicap of .£2O, bandsmen's race, amateur races, etc., etc. Cheap excursion rates on the railway have been granted, and a large gathering from the Thames. Coromandel, and Waikato is exoected. .
