At the annual meeting of the Westport Coal Company, the Hon. Miller, chairman, having referred to the death of the Hon. Downie Stewart, who was a prominent director of the Company, said the output for the past year Was 280,12S tons, an increase of 37,000 tons over the previous year's Output, and the profit amounted to £17,257, which would enable the Company t6 pay a seven per cent, dividend, and Start & reserve fund with £2,500. Good progress had been made in developing the Granity Creek mine, and by the end of the present year the directors expected to work coal in the main part of the lease. The shareholders were to be congratulated On the completion of this property. Supplies to the Admiralty had increased 2,000 or 3,000 tons, and there was reason to believe the quantity would be somewhat increased in the future.
