The Waitekauri Company has opened the year well by paying a dividend . and then following with a record return. During the period eluding January 2Sth—thirty-five days in all, 2986 tons of ore were treated by this company - for a yield of bulb'ion valued at £8731. This is the largest output yet obtained at any eingle cleaning up at this mine. The average value per ton of the ore treated wr.s also satisfactory, being £2 18/5. The December return was £7091 from 2403 tons, so that the present yield shows an increase of £1640 in bullion, and of 583 tons in the quantity of ore treated. The reason the mil was for 35 days this time is because the mine was practically shut down for about a fortnight at the Christmas and New Year holiday season.
