An exceptionally heavy thunderstorm was experienced in the Alanawatu district yesterday afternoon. A stable in town was struck by lightning and the front of the building destroyed. No further damage in the district is yet reported. It is now raining heavily, and it is expected heavy loss will result to farmers whose crops are not yet harvested.

In Wairarapa the fall was phenomenal. It began with a thunderstorm at 2 p.m. yesterday. Four and threequarter inches of rain were recorded, and it is still raining.

Accused was remanded. GREYMOUTH, Sunday. There was a tremendous fall of rain all last night, but it did not materially affect the rivers.
