Rochefort and Max Regis, who was recently removed by the French Government from the position of Mayor of Algiers owing to the part be took in the Anti-Jewish disturbances, were cheered and hooted at Marseilles en route to Algiers. Flowers and stones were thrown at the carriage. When aboard the steairfer Regis apostrophised a hostile crowd , gathered at quays and boats.
