WEDNESDAY HOLIDAY ASSOCIATION.

i Arrangements for the Wednesday Holiday Asociation's picnic to the Thames on the 15th inst are progressing satisfactorily, and with fine weather there is every promise of a successful outing. At a meeting of the committee last evening it was reported that the majority of the shops had promised to close on the Wednesday, not only in the city and suburbs, but in Newmarket, Otahuhu, and Onehunga as well. The tickets for the p.s. Wakatere were finding a ready sale. The committee passed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr A. Myers, manager of the Campbeil-Ehrenfried Company, for a handsome and valuable silver cup which the Company has donated as a prize. The conditions of its bestowal naving been left to the committee, they decided to award the cup as first prize in the five-mile bicycle race, open to shopassistants who are amateur cyclists. Several other trophies have been promised. The prizes were exhibited today in Messrs A. Yates and Go's window, Queen-street. The full programme of the sports appears in this evening's issue, the entries being announced to close on Wednesday next at 1 p.m.
