We are pleased to see that in the late Junior University Scholarship Examination, which is the highest test of secondary education in the colony, the Auckland College and Grammar School has outdistanced all other competitors. Fourteen of these scholarships were open to the whole colony, and of these the Grammar School gained five, while the two Auckland candidates in the credit list were from the same school. This school also passed twenty-four candidates in the matriculation examination; arid it may be remembered, gained nine out of the twelve senior district scholarships lately awarded by the Auckland Education Board.
