The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency report:—We had a full catalogUft to offer at our Tuesday sale, and hides were in good demand. Hides: We quote prime stout ox s^d to 6}d, heavy stout 5d to 5Jd, stout 4£d to sd, light and medium 3&d to 41d, cow 3£d to 4d, calf 3d to 4d, kip 34d to 3id, stags 2d to 2id. Sheepskins: Pelts, salted 1/ to 1/3, dry 6d to lOd, lambs salted 1/2 to 1/8, dry 8d to 1/3. Tallow: Best 15/ to 16/3, medium 13/ to 14/6. Wool in bags, etc.: Half-bred 5d to 5Jd, crossbred 4Jd to sd, dead 3d to 4d, pieces 2d to 3d. Maize: Since last report Sydney buying has ceased entirely, and. ■we can only look for sales of a few hundred sacks per month outside of Auckland. In consequence of the Sydney order ending so suddenly, and the heavy arrivals coming on top of the large quantity of the previous week (which was too late for the Sydney boat) the market has been glutted, and a greater portion has gone to store; nominally the price is 2/9 ex wharf, but owners prefer, to store rather than take anything below 3/. Advices to hand state that the stocks are light on the coast; should this be so the market should soon right itself again. Oats: Market has been replenished wilfl shipments from the South again, which have all gone to store, ex store quotations being 2/1 to 2/11 for 'C and B grade. Chaff: Old chaff is now about finished, and.new is selling at £2 10/ at rail. The market shows a weakening tendency.
