The tone of business on the Ex- \ change to-day was decidedly better. Crown shares, which latterly were asked for at 12/, with sellers at 14/6, to-day had demand at 13/6, with no _ sellers under 15/. Woodstock shares changed hands yesterday at G/9, but this morning 7/G was offered without sales resulting. Talisman further advanced in price, being sold at I.V, with buyers left at 14/10. Alahara Koyal shares were also a little firmer, being asked for at. 1/11; ancl. buyers of Komata Reefs advanced to 3/. For Standard stock higher prices were also offered in some cases. • National Insurance buyers advanced to 16/2. N.Z. Accident Insurance shares were wanted at 22/(3. but no selling price was quoted. Northern ."' Steam shares had inquiry at 7/10, and :±, Union Oil at 20/3. Coal shares continue to have an upward tendency. Taupiri Extendeds being wanted at 22/, Westport at 62/(5, "and Ralph's Taupiri Coal at 7/0.
