NORTHERN BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WANGANUT, Tuesday. The first Champion Rink Tournament in connection with the Northern Bowling Association opened today. There are 21 clubs represented. The weather was bad last night and this morning, but before noon it cleared, and is now perfect. In the absence, of the President of the Association (Captain Edwin) Mr P. Spurdle (VicerPresident) opened the green in a crisp, cheery speech, ans gave all the bowlers a hearty good welcome. The g-reen is not in good condition, being heavy arid bumpy on some rinks, but it is hoped that constant rolling will improve it. At present it is difficult, to say which club is likely to Win,but opinion favours Wanganui or Napier. The play of the Feilcling men was much admired, they giving Wanganui their first reverse by 2 points.
