Colonel Sammartin, the Spanish excommandant of the town of Ponce, m Puerto Rico, has been sentenced to imprisonment for life for surrendering to the Americans during the late war., * At the time of the surrender it was reported that Sammartin was courtmartialled and ordered to be shot.
