MILITARY TOURNAMENT FUND. .
At the meeting of the Tournament Committee held last Tuesday evening an altercation took place between the ex-Mayor (Mr P. Dignan) and the secretary of the tournament (Lieut. Com.' C. H. Clemens). Mr Dignan stated that the claims of the children's hospital to the tournament money had been withdrawn, while this.was contradicted by the secretary. In consequence of ihe Mayor's definite statement the claim of the children's hospital was not considered by the committee at all. Yesterday the Tournament Committee received a letter from the chairman of the Hospital Board, in which he states: 'I bave most emphatically to state the claim of the children's hospital was never withdrawn by me or the Board.' A meeting of the committee has been called for next Thursday.
