The Choral Hall was packed last evening to hear the first of several lists of competitors;, from the fact that no less than twenty-two have already given samples of their respective capabilities, and that two or more afternoons are to be devoted to hearing the balance; the popularity ol these competitions is placed beyond a doubt. It would be manifestly unfair to particularly mention any of the items until the judgment is delivered, ' , :

This afternoon more musical competitions were being held, the classes judged being tenors, baritones, violin, soprano and piano. 'The Messiah will be repeated at the Choral Hall tonight, a 'shilling being charged for admission. Season ticket holders are reminded that their photographs must be attached to the tickets prior to the morning of Saturday next,24th inst.
