A FASHIONABLE WEDDING

The vicinity of the Synagogue in Princes-street was the scene of unwonted animation on December 7, the occasion being one of The most fashionable weddings solemnised in Auckland for some time past. The contracting parties were Miss* Sybil Maud Nathan (daughter of Mr L. D. Nathan) and Mr Stephen Myers, of London. The inside of the Synagogue was beautifully decorated with white flowers, ferns, palms and creepers by friends of the bride, the principal flowers being lilies. Some time before the arrival of the bride the buildingwas filled to overflowing by a fashionably dressed throng of invited guests, conspicuous being the officers of the Tauranga, in full uniform. The pretty Jewish marriage ceremony was conducted by the Rabbi, the Rev. S. A. Goldstein. The service was fulty choral, the choir giving their services voluntarily. The bride was supported by her father and mother, and Mr and Mrs N. Alfred Nathan acted as parents to Mr Myers, who was accompanied by Mr John C. Davis as best man. Misses Roie and Gladys Nathan (daughters ot Mr N. A. Nathan) and Misses Gwennie and Stella Nathan (daughters of Mr Arthur Nathan), similarly attired in cream accordion pleated silk dresses with large cream hats tied Avith a rosette under the .chin,

made a very pretty quartette as bridesmaids, while Mr Alfred Nathan's son Harold was page. The bride's costume was an exquisite creation of .white duchess satin. The low-necked bodice was swathed and the sleeves of white lesse were transparent. The-icanrt train was or. white brocaded satin, and faliing from orie shoulder extended for about 4ycls. A white veil over a tiara of orange flowers completed the costume. The ' bouquet of white flo -ers 'carried by | the bride was an exceptionally handI some one.

After the ceremony the Rabbi delivered a short address. The Hon. E. Mitchelson and Captain. Browne (H.M.S. Tauranga) sirred the register as witnesses. Afterwards Mr and Mrs L. D. Nathan -eld a large reception at their residence in jlarangahape road, where *.-■ ere the large collection cl presents received by the newly-mar-ried couple Prominent amongst these was the present by the employees of Messrs L. D. and N. A. Nathan, a very finely inlaid table. The bridegroom*s present to the bride ■ /as a much admired diamond necklace, and to the bridesmaids very pretty pearl brooches with ■• heart in the centre. Mr and Mrs Myers subsequently lett on their honeymoon. They stay a'few days in the country, and afterwards make a tour of the Southern Lakes. Returning to Auckland, they will bo passengers towards the end of .Tanuar}' by the R.M.s. Moana, en route, via the United States, to England, it being their intention to take up their residence in London.

This afternoon Messrs Nathan's business premises were closed, and to-night Mr L. D. Nathan entertains the employees at Canning's restaurant in honour of his daughter's wedding.
