NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION.
REGATTA TO BE HELD AT AUCKLAND.
WELLINGTON, November 12.
The annual meeting ox the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association was held last night, Mr A. G. Fell, of Picton, occupying the chair. The report and balance-sheet, which showed the association to be in a satisfactory condition, were adopted. Mr A. E. Craddock, captain of the Union Rowing Club, Christchurch, moved, 'That the headquarters of the association be removed to Christchurch.' He complained that the government of the association now lacked that life and vigour which had characterised it a few years ago, and xirged that the removal of the headquarters would galvanise it into active life once more.' The motion was lost by 45 votes to 17. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Dr. Pollen; vice-presidents, Messrs A. E. Craddock (.Christchurch) and A. G. Pell (Picton); secretary and treasurer, Mr W. C. Marter; Managing Committee, Mesrs G. C. Fache, W. H. Field, G. H. Bethune. A. G. Johnston, F. W. Mitchell, J. G. Rule, and N. Galbraith; Appeal Council, Messrs W. H. Field. A. G. Johnston, W. F. Marks, G. C. Fache, W. Brown, J. G. Rule, and G. H. Bethune. AH the local officers were reelected. Auckland was selected as the locality for the ensuing season's championship regatta. The half-yearly meeting of the association was abolished, and several other amendments were made in the rules. A proposal that the Appeal Council and Managing Committee of the association be merged into one body was lost by 40 to 23;
The question of the locality for this season's championship regatta was discussed at great length. The Auckland delegates, particularly Messrs Gibbons (West End), Brown (North Shore), and Howard (St. George's) spoke strongly in support of Auckland's claims. The voting resulted as follows: —Auckland, 37; Picton, 18; Akqroa, 5.
