SUNDAY TRADING CASE
In the appeal case heard in the Supreme; Court yesterday, being an appeal from the J conviction recorded by Mr Hutchinson^ S.M., in the ease Police v. S. Toomaa,; licensee of the Aurora Hotel, for selling.; , ; liquor on Sunday, His Honor Mr Justice Connolly gave judgment yesterday,after- " noon. In the course of his judgment His Honor said he was quite satisfied that the ■ hotel was open for the purpose of selling " liquor that evening—Sunday, April 17th. v He reviewed the'evidenee and said that he thought the conviction ought to be sus- > tamed; the evidence for the defence wa,3 unsatisfactory in several respects. The conviction was sustained, and the appeal dismissed with £10 10s costs. Mr J. A. Tole appeared for the police (Sergeant Treanor being the complainant in the case), and Mr Cooper for Tooman.
