A STEAMER STRANDED.

WELLINGTON, this day.
The steamer Huia has gone ashore at the mouth of the Manawatu: Elver while crossing the bar.
[The Huia is: an iron screw steamer of 133 gross and 90 net tons. She was built in Auckland in 1878, by R. H. Yeoman .anC Co., and is owned by G. Seagar and Jacob Joseph, of Wellington, at which port she is registered. Her dimensions are: Length,' 113.2 feet; breadth;-, 25.2 feet; and: depth, 11.5 feet.. Her engines are of 25 horse power. The Huia is engaged. in the trade between W'anganui and Wellington, via ;way. ports. As the Manawatu Bar is a sandy one, the Huia will probably be floated off without much injury. '-' : ' : ; : "
