A conference of the representatives of the Northern colliery proprietors and miners of Newcastle discussed the question of increasing- the selling price of coal j)roportionate with an advance in ilip hewing rate. Ten proprietors considered that the time had arrived for raising- the price to 8/, with a heating- rate of 2/11. The cQ»!%renee adjemrned for three weeks, 'to endeavour to arrange an agreement.
