THE DUKE OF SAXE-COBURG (LIMITED).
Some strange facts-with reference to the affairs of the Duke of Saxe-Co-burg leaked out before the Parliamentary Committee Avhich took evidence on the East and West Wales Raihvay Bill last Aveek. One of the promoters of the Bill, a Mr Marks, of the JeAvish fraternity, stated that tAvo or three persons Avould provide £20,000 or £30,000 towards the required capital of half a million for the 49 miles of railway, and a third person Avas prepared to find the remainder or the whole of the capital if required. On being pressed and chaffed about the Queen and the Emperor of China, Mr Marks affirmed that the mysterious capitalist Avas the Duke of'Saxe-Co-burg, and produced a copy of a poAver of attorney from the Duke giving, itis understood, Mr Marks authority to deal with the. Avhole of His Roval Highness' property in the United Kingdom. Notwithstanding, the Committee thrcAv out the Bill 'on the ground that they Avere, not satisfied a.s to the financial support of the scheme. The disclosure, in the Avords of Corporal Gregory Brewster, 'wouldn't have done for "the Dook.'
