TALISMAN EXTENDED.
An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in this company was held late, yesterday at Mr R. McDonald Scott's office. Colonel Burton presided and explained that though the mine was well situated so far efforts at flotation had not proved successful. The company was not in debt and all but £00 of "the last call was paid. The Board recommended that protection should be applied for. Mr G. A. Buttle said the company required a large sum of money to properly develop the mine; adjoining properties, on which some £30,000 or £40,000 had been spent were not yet. paying regular dividends, so What chance bad the Talisman Extended unless they put their hands deep into their pockets? He expressed bis willingness to pay another call, and would then hand his shares in to be placed to the credit of the company. Would the directors take them?
The Chairman said the directors had quite enough shares without purchasing- others. So far as the payment of calls was concerned, the directors had no desire to force the bands of shareholders, but they could not accept shares in the manner proposed. After some discussion in the course of which Mr Buttle suggested that the company be wound up, it was decided, on the motion of Mr J. Hume seconded by Mr H. B. Dunnett, that absolute proieetion be obtained for six months, that expenses be out down as much as possible, and that a halfpenny call be made, the shareholders to be called together again to consider the position in four months' time.
