VOLUNTEERING IN WELLINGTON.
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent)
WELLINGTON, this day
The enthusiasm in the volunteer movement is well maintained throughout the Wellington district, but the enrolment of the Submarine Mining Corps is temporarily delayed through representations to the Defence Office by the proposed members, who strongly object to being made a mere appendage to the Wellington Naval Artillery. The Defence Department has tho matter under consideration. At Marton the Alexandria Cavalry have been largely recruited. Steps are being taken to form a new Mounted liitie Corps.
