THE PURE MILK CRUSADE.

(To tlie Editor.)

Sir, —I thank you for your letter in the 'Star' to-night about the. •.ham inquiry about dirty, dairies. It is all true and it is a shame that the iuspectdr does not sh.it up some of the-filthy

places around here. The nasty green sewage water runs all along the gully from Newton Road and Arch Hill and several people have seen cows drink this water this summer. Mr . 's place (name mentioned) has no-.con-venience; the cows are fed on grains and the piace stinks of sour grains. In winter the cows are up to their bellies in mud, and at night the cows are turned out on the waste land, and they can any time drink the foul water. The new act says that all milk must be refrigerated; but .these people have no means of doing it.

Another place- (name mentioned) is just the same—cows fed on grains and everything done alongside the stinking sewer. It is the little suburban dairies that need closing where the cows are fed on grains, the milk not cooled, and the cows are allowed to wander and pick any food and water that turns -up. ..-■ . Please use your power to get these many little dairies closed and you will be thanked by all who have sense to see what is going on.—Yours, etc., A NEWTON RESIDENT. Newton, March 3rd.
