A CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS

HAMILTON, this day

A youth named Harold Bastable, aged 15, was out riding on Sunday last when his horse ran him against a post. He did not mention the fact to anyone and rode a couple of miles to work next day. He had to . knock off, and rode Home. On being admibbed bo bhe hospital yesterday ib was found that his hip had been broken. He is progressing favourably.

Mr John Franklin, county foreman, was thrown from his horse when returning home from work and had several ribs broken.

An old man, aged 62, named Amos Webb, living by himself in a little hut in Hamilton, died yesterday. He was found living in a state of abject poverty. When being taken to the hospital he said he possessed one hundred pounds, which were hidden away, but the accuracy of the statement is at present unknown. Rain fell steadily all day, and bhere is every appearance of web weabher for bhe races. There are a large number of visitors in town. Mrs Gywnne, wife of Mr A. J.
