OUR CRICKETERS.

The fifth series of cricket championships was begun in the Domain and at the North Shore on Saturday. The weather was fine and the wickets were in good order, while some excellent scoring was done, lhe century was topped by Ike Mills and It. Neil!, the latter's score of 118 being the highest yet made in senior cricket this season, As the scores now stand, the chances are in favour of Parnell, Cordon and Auckland winning their matches. The round will be concluded on Saturday week, as the Domain will be occupied by the Friendly Societies' sports on Saturday next*

PARNELL V. UNITED

A great deal of interest was manifested in this match, as the two clubs are on even terms for the championship, each having' won their four matches. The chance ot United turning up the winners was most favourable, and the big stand made by their opponents was most unexpected. However, United have only themselves to thank, for their fielding was of the worst possible description, none of the chances^ offered being accepted, while the ground fielding was wretched. Mills and Totmari opened for Parnell and made 156 before the partnership was dissolved, Totman being stumped by Lusk with his score at 81. He played an' excellent innings, only giving one chance, when he had scored 40. Mills was still not out when time was called, with his score at 103. Mills played a very good innings, his cricket being very sound, with the exception of two weak strokes which provided chauces. Stemson and Todd each captured one wicket, the former for 93, and the latter at the cost of 30. Stemson's 29 overs included 7 maidens. Scores : Parnell—First innings. I. Auckland took the wickets and made 275 for the loss of nine wickets, the feature of the innings being the brilliant batting of R. Neill and Nicholson. This pair got together when there were two wickets down for four runs, and put on 204 before Neill had to retire, being run out. His score of 118 was made in splendid style, his hitting being very free, while there were 14 fours in his score. Nicholson put together 78 without giving a single chance.
