A considerable number of the shops in the city and Karangahape and Ponsonby Roads are decorated with native foliage and ferns for Christmastide. Many of the hotels were also similarly adorned last night and to-day in celebration of Christmas Eve. We remind readers of the performance to be given by the American Vaudeville Company at the Opera House to-night. The entertainment is to conclude with a most amusing comedietta, "The Troubles of Mr McCarthy." The prizes in connection with the Friendly Societies' Gala, now on exhibition at the shop of McLeod Bros., Karangahape Road, are a very choice collection and are attracting much attention. The Committee are determined that I noeffort on their part will be spared to make the gala an undoubted success. Tickets for the art union,, which, are obtainable from the secretaries of all Friendly Societies, are selling freely. Entries for the sports, which are to be held in the Domain on January 29th, Anniversary Day, close with the President- (Bro. John McLeod), Queen-street, and Bro. H. T.
