AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.

Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Report.—The supply of horsefeed, grain and seed., has been sufficient for a moderate demand. We quote : —Maize, on wharf, 2s id to 2s od per bushel; oaten chaff, £i to Hi 10s per ton. The demand for horses has been weak, and large numbers brought forward ; there was a downward tendency in value. Competition was slow. For heavy draught, from £12 to £18; medium draught. £8 to £11; light harness, £3 10s to £9 ss; hacks, £3 to £7 10s; small nnd weedy animals, 15s to £2. Wool, hides, skin, tallow, bones : A good catalogue was gone through at the Durham Yards under brisk competition. We quote : Prime stout ox. 5d to Oa lb; medium to stout, 3Jd to 4kl: steers, 3d to 3Jd ; cow", "23d to 3jd ; calfskins, 4d to od : tallow, 10s 6d to lis 9d cwt; bones, £3 5s ton. The demand for dairy stock has been better, and, although the weather has been so dry. stores did not decline in value. Fat beasts were a shade higher. There was a moderate muster at the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday, and a slightly upward tendency in prices of fat beasts. The special sale held at Mr F. Hale's, Wairoa South, on Wednesday was largely attended ; competition was keen, and satisfactory prices realised. We quote :Ox beef, los to 17s 1001b ; cow, lis; dairy cows from £2 10s to £7 ss; dry cows, £110s to £2; steers, stores, £2 5s to £5 (is ; heifers, £1 3s to £2 6s ; calves. 16s 6d to £1 2s 6d. Sheep: The Newmarket pens were well Tilled and stock well competed for; wethers at from 6s 9d to 9s each; ewes, 6s 6d to 7s; lambs, _s Gd to 10s 6d. Pigs: Scarce at 2_d to 3d lb live weight. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons' Weekly Report. — At the Haymarket oaten sheaves have brought 3s 6d; meadow hay, 2s 6d cwt; wheat straw, 17s to £1 8s load ; oats, 2s 3d to 2s 6d; maize, 26 7d bushel; maize on wharf, 2s 5d bushel. Horse stock were yarded numerously. Fresh young country horses sell freely at full values; strong medium draught, with a ton trial. were from £13 to -20 ; medium drought, spring cart trial, £8 to £15 10s each ; a spring cart, £10. On Tuesday, hides and skins in usual supply; light hides at low values; medium and stout at last week's prices. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows in usual number were without alteration in value; those sold were from £3 to £5 10s each. Fat calves in moderate supply obtained no improvement over last week's values. Fat cattlo in short supply sold irregularly, the first few pens advanced in price about 5s each over last week's market, but fell as the sale proceeded, in some instances to less than last week's values. Prices for steers were from 13s to 16s; cows, about 12s the 1001b. Fat sheep in usual number (1,000 sold) were at last week's values. Wethers, l_d; ewes, lid lb. Store sheep (COO sold) were in demand at prices closely approximating to those for well fatted. Pigs, in less than average number, scarcely kept last week's values. Messrs G. VV. Binney and Sons' Report.—On Tuesday we cleared a good catalogue of hides, sheepskins, tallow, bones and hair.- Hides: Competition good, and prices freely maintained. We quote : Picked ox up to 7d; extra stout, s£d to 6d; stout, 4. dto sd; medium, 3_}d to 4d; light, 3id to 3£d ; cow, best lines, 3_d to 3Jd ; medium, 3d ; inferior, 2id to 2_d ; kip, 3d to 3*d ; calf, well flayed, 4Jd to Sid ; stags, _Ud to 2jd lb; damaged at nominal figures. Sheepskins : Prices easier; picked longwools, up to 5s 8d; ordinary, 4s 6d to ss; crossbred.., 4s to 4s 6d; halfbreds, 3s to 4s; pelts, salted, lOd to Is id; dry, 6d to lOd; lambs, Is 3d to 2s ; bulk, at ls6d. Tallow : Prices range from lis Gd to 12s 6d for good lots; picked for tanners' use, up to 16s; inferior, 9s to 10s per cwt; no shipping parcels offering.
