ALBURNIA RETURN.
The return for the past month's operations in this mine shows a slight improvement upon the former yield, 200 tons of ore having given 107oz of bullion, worth about £281.
MONOWAI GOLDMINES, LIMITED.
During the past month tlie following work has been done in this mine. The south-west level from No. 2 adit has been driven a further distance of 41 feet upon tlie course of the reef, making it 76 feet, and of its usual size and character, from which free gold can be obtained and of a payable nature. A winze has been started from the north-east level, which has been sunk ten feet, and discontinued tor the present until the No. .3 level, 120 feet below, drains the water. The No. 3 north-east level being driven from No. 3 Adit A. has been extended 50 feet, making it 260 feet, the reef in this level being over 30 feet in thickness, and of the same nature and quality as the level above, which contains a large qnantityof minerals. No. 38. adit has been driven a further distance of 29 feet; total, 67 feet. This adit is being driven upon an angle of the reef, and is 47 feet in the reef, leaving about 20ft more to cut the footwall, which is of a promising nature. The tram line is being pushed on with from the No. 3 B adit to the battery with all speed. All necessary repairs to the water race have been effected, and the alterations to the battery are proceeding. At the Gem mine No. 2 adit all necessary repairs have been effected and the old levels and passes repaired, and everything is now ready for breaking down the ore, which is of good quality from the tests made. No. 3 adit is a new one being driven about 120 ft below No. 2. This is in 100 ft, leaving about 270 ft to strike the reef. A tram line is being laid from this No. 3 adit to connect with the battery. The developments in all the workings are most encouraging. NONPAREIL. The crushing of 42 loads of quartz just completed returned 27ozs lOdwts of gold value about £70. The manager reports that in the Liverpool reef a few colours of gold are occasionally seen but the dirt is of low grade. A rise has been commenced to see if the reef improves at the higher level. The Wade reef is divided at present and requires a lot of sorting. The stone shows a few colours of I gold.
