A CHILD KILLED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, this day
A child between four and five years old, named Hepplestan, sitting on the railway line at Petone, was run over by the Gear Company's engine and killed. The driver did his best to pull up when he saw the child, but, unfortunately the latter tried to cross the line, and though the engine was going slowly, it struck the little one on the head, the skull being fractured.
