CATTLE.

The entries in all classes of cattle this year show great improvement both in numbers and condition, the numbers being 164 this time as compared with 137 last show. There is a marked increase in the number ot pedigree Shorthorns shown, Mr Every McLean's herd having contributed lamely this year in addition to other exhibits by Messrs' Woodward Bros., Reid Bros., and the Woodlands Estates Company. In Class 77, Mr F. Colbeck's two year old roan bull carried off first prize, beating the winner of former yeais. The show of grade shorthorns was also good, while the pedigree Alderneys and Jersey class exhibits were as usual well to the fore, and attracted an amount of attention. In fat cattle, the exhibits were of such excellence that the judges had some difficulty in awarding the first prize in some pens.
