£11,353 FOR THE MONTH. The return from this famous mine for the past four weeks' crushing resulted in bullion worth £11,353 being obtained from 3,300 tons. The average value of the ore per ton was £3 8s 9d. This brings the total output of bullion from this mine up to £618,594 17s 3d. The following are the returns from this mine since IS9O : — Bullion won & s d In 1890 - 21,112 13 6 1891 23,935 5 11 ISO 2 41.858 2 i 1893 01,900 10 11 1894 .. 82,827 2 2 1883 .. 120,334 2 2 1596 137,321 8 2 189 V (to November) .. 126,275 12 1 Total £615,594 17 3 THE MONTH'S OPERATIONS. j The manager reports on the works j carried out in the mine during the four I weeks ended 13th November as follows :— i Martha lode No. 2 level: No further; operations have been carried out at eastern j end of this lode except the timbering of the level and preparing quartz passes preparatory for stoping, when a method of treating this mineralised ore has been decided on. During the month 100 tons have been added to special paddock. Welcome lode No. 2 level: The level which has been extended on supposed course of Welcome is now suspended and the men removed to widen out on course of Welcome proper. The two lodes combined form a large body of first-class ore to a width of loft. The Victoria lode on all the levels overhead of this point is of size and good quality. Stopes on Welcome lode opposite No. 2 shaft: The faces have all produced a fair class of ore during the month.' Welcome lode No. 1 level: At 1,220 ft west of No. 2 shaft the lode has been followed on its southward course 30ft. The stone is of a coarse and blocky description from sft to 6ft in thickness, underlaying 1 in 3 to the west. Crosscut from here towards Martha has been extended 193 ft, making 330 ft, or 1,550 ft beyond No. 2 shaft. During the month quite a mass of small lodes and stringers were intersected in this crosscut, there being no less than 14 in number, varying from a few inches up to over 3ft in thickness. The two largest and most important of these were met at 262 ft and 272 ft, and correspond with the position and distance Martha was expected. The first mentioned is S^ft wide, and gave by assay gold equal toOdwt 19gr, silver 2oz 3dwt, to the ton. The last 3ft wide gave 7iclwt gold to the ton. It is intended to sink on the best of these, which will prove their value. The manager proposes to do some developing in Surprise lode by driving on its course some distance at No. 1 level. 3,770 tons have been forwarded to kilns from all parts of the mine made up as follows : — Welcome lode : Adit level, 250 tons ; No. 1, 465 tons; No. 2, 1,843 tons. Martha lode : 1,212 tons. 100 tons of mineralised ore from eastern end of Martha No. 2 level have been dumped in special paddock.
