Victoria.—ln the drive on the new leader at the surface level the quartz broken has shown gold freely, and a few pieces of stone have been selected. The crushing of 45 loads was completed for a yield of 340z 15 dwt retorted gold, reduced on melting to 330z 12dwt, and valued at £91. Included in this return are eight loads from the surface leader, the yield from which was 18oz lOdwt. ,' , Kaiser.—The reef has undergone a great change since last report. It is now in stringers, but may change at any time. JNo more Pthan six tons crushed for loz 16dwt retorted, and the same melted as per wire. Moanataiari Extended.—Driving east on the course of the leader where gold was seen is now being carried on in order>to prove its value. The country about the leader is of a first class description. Occidental.—ln the extension of North Star low level crosscut to intersect Loyalty reef the country is interlaced with numerous limestone and silica veins. Hauraki Associated.— Picked stone continues to be secured from the footwall lead, 160 ft of which are opened up ready for stoping. Rainbow End Lead. Another 20ft will connect the Nos I and 2 levels on this lead, and give 300 feet ready for stoping. Colours of gold are seen through the quartz broken. South Lead now Bin wide ; colours of gold continue to be seen in the stopes each breaking down. Niccols lead looking very well; strong dabs of colour seen through the general dirt. Battery is now in full swing, first clean up will take place in about two weeks' time. Talisman Extended.—Low level tunnel extended further distance of seven feet. Country tough sandstone, bound up with quartz veins. ~* Pukewhau.—Engaged cleaning out low level. Have been prospecting leader in different parts of workings. Got some very good prospects in places. Empress.—Extended No. 2 stope eight feet further. Reef still maintains its usual size, and colours of gold seen each breaking down.
