RESULT OF THE ELECTION
NEW YORK, November 3,
Tho contest for the mayoralty of Greater New York has resulted in the return of Chief Justice H. Van Dyek, the nominee of the Tammany Hall party, defeating Mr Seth Low, the Citizens' Union candidate, Who was second, and Mr Henry George, son of the late Mr Henry George, the wellknown single-taxer, b3 r an estimated majority of 70,000. The polling for the Mayoralty of New York was as follows :—Van Wyck, 235,181; Seth Low, 149,873; Tracey, 101,8-23; George, 10,727. The proceedings were marked by great excitement, but there was no disturbance. The Tammany Hall party polled every democratic vote. A DEMOCRAT : REVIVAL. Lr».';-^ON, November 3. British newspapers, commenting on the result say it will prove a great set back to honest Government, and is indicative of a k imocratic revival.
