OUR GOLDFIELDS.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

Tandem (Waikoromiko). —Stoping from No. 1 rise going west 12ft has been stoped, the lode here being 2ft 6in wide. The prospects are better than usual, colours of gold being more frequently seen. The reef is now compact, being solid in formation, from which I conclude that better results may ensue. Stoping from No. 1 rise going east 12ft has also been stoped. The reef here is lft to lft 6in wide, and prospects as usual, colours of gold being discernible.

Orlando.—We have extended the drive going seaward a further distance of five feet, through a good class of country. The reef was broken down, and showed improvement. Strong colours of gold were seen through the ore, while the best class of minerals are showing.

Hauraki Main Lodes.— No. 1 crosscut is in very favourable country, having cut through the hard belt and now in true sandstone with veins of quartz distributed over the face. No. 2 crosscut is still in hard country. A third crosscut, No. 3, has been started in the vicinity of the chamber. Part of the large winding engine, etc., have arrived, and Messrs Chambers and Son, the contractors, have undertaken to have the big plant in working order by the end of the year. The present engine house will be used as a change house. The patent cages will arrive by the Star of England and the mine will be fully equipped when the present contract is completed. The influx of water remains about tjie same.
