A GUMDIGGER'S FATE.
DEATH IN A BURNING WHARE,
About 9.40 o'clock last night a whare at Carroll's cam]), Lucas' Creek, occupied by a gurndigger named Thos. Remington, was found to be on fire. The building was completely enveloped in llames by the time the outbreak was discovored by Robetr Moller, another gumdigger, and as Remington was believed to be inside, Moller and some others burst open the whare door, only to find the unfortunate occupant lying dead upon the floor. He had been suflocated by the smoke, and was also slightly burned. Constable McDonald, of Devonport, proceeded to Lucas Creek to-day, to arrange a coronor's .inquest.
