NATIVE TROUBLE AT TARANAKI.
FORTY-ONE ARRESTS.

NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday,
About fifty Maoris commenced ploughing in Waitara town early this morning, and were ejected by the settlers. Inspector McGovern and men have gone to Pukearuhe, 20 miles north of Waitara, to arrest some natives there. Meanwhile the Waitara settlers are keeping watch to prevent ploughing. Sergeant Stagpoole has arrested 21 more natives at Waitara and Waihi, and Inspector McGovern is on his way to New Plymouth with a large batch from Pukearuhe. • There are already 41 in the local gaol.
