LAWN TENNIS.
PARNELL
The annual meeting of members of the Parnell Lawn Tennis Club was held on Saturday afternoon in the Club House, when the President, Mr A. J. Denniston, occupied the chair. The ' report and balance-sheet as submitted showed the financial position of the Club to have been very much improved during the year, the overdraft having been practically reduced to nil, only £2 remaining to be cleared oft. In addition to this, the sum of £63 had been expended out of revenue upon the grounds, two of the lawns having been hand-dug, levelled, and sown. It was decided that the 13th of November should be the opening of the season. The following officers .were elected :—President, Mr A. J. Denniston ; Vice-Presidents, Rev Mr Mac Murray and Mr T. F. Ward; Hon. Secretary, Mr J. P. Stevenson ; Hon. Treasurer, Mr 0. R. Younghusband ; Committee, Messrs Rich, Thomas, Pollen and Upfill; auditor, Mr Dargaville ; delegates, Messrs Thomas and Younghusband. ■' WEST END. On Saturday afternoon the Wast End Lawn Tennis Club gave an " At Home" at the grounds in Jervois Road, Ponsonby, on the occasion of the opening of the lawns for the season. There was a large attendance, including visitors from other clubs, and the courts were found to be in excellent order. Afternoon tea was provided by the club, and Burkes orchestra played several musical selections. The players and visitors were photographed in front of the pavilion by Mr Peacock.
