THE LUCKNOW MINE.
END OF THE STRIKE.
SYDNEY, this day.
The Lucknow strike has ended. On Saturday, the manager notified a number of the strikers, that unless they returned to work that day their places would he filled. An interview followed,, when the manager informed them on tbe condition that the strike was immediately declared off, and there was no further interference with the Company's employees, he would undertake to revert to the standard rate of wages on May Ist, 1898. In the meantime, lie would pay at tbe rate of 7s 6d per shift. A general meeting of miners subsequently decided to accept these terms and declared the strike off. A number of the strikers have already resumed work. An effort will be made to obtain similar terms from the management of tbe Darcy Wentworth, another Lucknow mine where a strike exists. _]
