CALCUTTA, October 22.
Colonel H. H. Mathias, • C.8., was wounded while leading the successful charge of Gordon Highlanders upon the enemy's position at Dargai. General Lockhart congratulated the Highlanders upon their gallant exploit in capturing the ridge, and said it was worthy of being enrolled among the brave deeds of the empire. He thanked Colonel Mathias and his officers.
CALCUTTA, October 23.
Westmacott's Brigade cleared the heights of Chagra Valley from rebel tribesmen and destroyed threeof their commanding towers.
