It was a raw gusty morning, and only preparatory sprints were indulged in. (In Saturday at Caullield Rosella .alloped two miles in excellent style in 340, beating Battallion by a length. .Fleet Admiral went a mile and three-quarters Tfith them, but finished badly, whilst Mora, who also took part in the gallop, was beaten off. . AttheMoonee Valley Races on Saturliay'Eiridsdale, with 7st 4lb in the saddle, yon the Phoenix Handicap of eight fnrlon^s and a-half, from Bundook (7st 131b). ■ffildbird and nine others started. Time, Imin 30-BC.
A wager of 140 to SO was laid on Aurum for the Derby, and 100 to o Ei^idsdale is offered.
Coil is easier for the Melbourne Cup, 1000 to 90 being offered. Wagers of 1,000 to 60, Ayrshire, and 3,000 to 120 about Delaware were also taken.
