THE V.X.C. DERBY.
"Thegreat spring racing carnival of the rear held under the auspices of the Victoria ftacuicr Club will be commenced next Saturday, when the Blue Riband conies up lor decision. This year's contest promises Wbe very one-sided, for it resolves itself Into a question as to the soundness of Aurm Fit and well, the race looks the best of " good things " for the colt. His form in the Caulfield Guineas shows that lie has not deteriorated in the least since last season, and it is quite plain that he can gallop as fast as ever. Last season Airamwas able to give Amberite 14lb and abetting, but I hardly think that he can do the same this year, for on the Caul field Cap vramer's last performance there is not that much, between them. However, no doubt Autum is the superior colt of the two, and my prediction is that he will place another Derby to Mr Wilson's credit next Saturday. In connection with the race for the Derby, the following table shows for recent years:—
